04.12.2020 – 19.45 – The new Decree, after the confirmation arrived from the Council of Ministers, confirms all, or almost all, the expectations on the rigid restrictive measures during the Christmas holidays.
These new measures will come into force from today, Friday 4th December, until 15th January.
A decree created precisely for the Christmas period, to preventthe dreaded ‘third wave’.
Let us now look in detail at what we can do during this period as a result of the government measures.
- Restaurants: for Christmas, December 26th, the 1st January and Epiphany, it will be possible to have lunch at restaurants. There will be a maximum of 4 people at the table: before Christmas the whole peninsula will turn yellow, so restaurants and bars can be open until 6 pm;
- Shops: should remain open during the holidays for shopping until 9 p.m., in order to better manage customers during the period of gifts, thus avoiding crowds. Shopping malls will be open on weekends until December 20th, but closed during the Christmas holidays;
- Quarantine: those returning from abroad will have to undergoa precautionary quarantine. The measure, which should be valid from 20th December, is designed for those who will move within the European Union, especially for those who decide to go skiing in the areas where the ski resorts will be open;
- Travels: as of 21st December, and until 6th January, all types of travels between different regions will be prohibited, except, as usual, for proven occupational needs, situations of need or health reasons. On 25th, 26th December and 1st January, travel between different Municipalities is also prohibited, except for the exceptions mentioned above. It is always possible to return to one’s residence, domicile or dwelling;
- Ski lifts: the lifts are closed until 7th January, when you can return to the slopes;
- Holiday homes: from 21st December to 6th January it is forbidden to move to holiday homes located in a region other than your own. While on 25th, 26th December and 1st January the ban will be also extended to holiday homes located in a different Municipality from your own;

- Christmas Mass: Mass will have to start at a time that allows the curfew to be respected.
