01.09.2020 – 10.10 – As the conversion of the foundry of the Servola Ironworks continues — closely linked to the evolution of the Julian port — the first shareholders are beginning to appear on the horizon; a sign that there is European interest in the project.
In this case it is the Hamburger Hafen und Logistik Ag (Hhla), a prestigious German port operator, that has become the first shareholder of the Logistics Platform, which is the second container terminal of Trieste by size, after Molo VII.
The platform stretches 35 metres towards the sea, in order to reach the required depth of 15 metres, necessary for the new generation of maxi container ships.
The interest of Hamburg will enable the port of Trieste to act as an integration “hub” for logistic and port networks between the ports of Northern and Southern Europe.
In this regard, the Minister of Economic Development Stefano Patuanelli and the CEO of Hhla Angela Titzrath will hold a ceremony tomorrow.
