Do not call it Sea Park. What will rise in Porto Lido will be called Nautaverso, the first (and unique in Italy) digital experience center. After 19 years of waiting it outlined the shape that will take the new shores: a terrain of 17.300mq, a building of 4.700mq, a navy of 835mq. A mix between “culture, science, technology and madness”, a mirror of the scientific vocation of the city, trait d’union among the many souls of Trieste. With today’s event the Chamber of Commercial wants to start – ideally – the presentation of the expression of interest that will formally start in the next weeks. The demolition begun on Friday will go ahead for 60 days, the first call will be introduced between January and February 2024, transforming Porto Lido into a shipyard by autumn 2024. Then, explains the father of Nautaverso Antonio Paoletti, it will take 36 months for permits. Delivery: approximately 2027. There is talk of a project of 32 million and 500 thousand euros of chambers funds, 8 of which allocated by the region.

Antonio Paoletti, president of the Commercial Chamber Venezia Giulia: “Today is an important date, that establishes the beginning of the project: a park by the sea, accessible from the sea. We have conducted extensive studies, we listened to the opinion of professionals and we designed an attractive pole able to keep up with new technologies”. “It was 2005 when Paoletti launched the idea – remember the first citizen, Roberto Dipiazza – this time we made it. The area will change face completely. Paoletti had against all and he never gave up”. Not only an “urban regeneration but an intellectual one turned to the future” for the president of the region Massimiliano Fedriga, that will bring “job and training opportunities”. This opportunity would be directed by young people, intended to be professionals in areas such as green and blue economy. It is about an important message to pass on to future generations for Zeno D’Agostino, president of the port system authority of the eastern Adriatic Sea. He is echoed by Andrea Prete, president of Unioncamere: “Today are two the main themes: digital and green transition. A mission that we feel ours”. While, all agree from the Trieste Convention Center stage, the real challenge are the digital and green competitions that the country will need between now and the next five years. And this is how the light will shine again on the ancient Lanterna: with a “futuristic project of urban regeneration to enhance central element history and geography of Trieste” said Carlo Sangalli, president of Confcommercio Imprese per l’Italia, and he added that “not all delay comes to harm”.

Two ministers invited to the event: Musumeci entrusts his best wishes in a video message promising a visit as soon as the park is finished, while Sangiuliano sends his greetings in a note, emphasizing that the project’s ambition could even teach.

A presentation in great fanfare, in which were invited the leading exponents of the Trieste Science, from UniTS to SISSA. And even landscapers, architects, urbanist, engineers. In other words, all the actors involved – in one way or another – in the frenzy “requalification” of the municipal administration.

Spaces will be divided as follows:

    • Methall: the main room for the group experiences, for a journey into the virtual world where the visitor is catapulted inside the seabed. This room is multifunctional, flexible and adaptable and is suitable for different uses
    • Submarine simulator: an experience set inside a capsule to discover the rarest species, the most unreachable depths, the lesser-known environments, thanks to the 5D technology, with special effects, with water and lights.
    • Immersive room: a room with double height for family or school groups, multimedia interactive paths, 3D projections and mappings, with tactile simulators, gesture control, large touch screens
    • Virtual acquarium: count on led screens that will give the impression of being in a real acquarium, with marine environments that below to different parts of the world
    • Auditorium: enriched with special effects, equipped with last generation projection systems supported by movement, olfactory and sensory special effects to give to the visitor a complete experience
    • Science on sphere: multifunctional teaching room for lessons on environmental sustainability linked to the sea, with particular attention to related activities. A system of projections illuminates a sphere on which 500 different sets of data on our planet can be viewed, constantly updated by NASA
    • Science lab: laboratory area presenting activities related to research entities and to innovative start-ups working on new technologies. The simulations of marine fauna in remote times can also be reproduced
