15.10.2021 – 12.10 – A “historic” moment, and not only because of the antiquity of the port’s waterfront: The Port Authority announced that the first-ever cruise ship has docked at Trieste’s Porto Vecchio. The ship arrived at the quay at around 9.30 this morning. The name of the ship is “Marina” and the company is the famous “Norwegian Cruise Lines Holding Ltd”.
A possible future cruise port or just an exception?
We will have to wait and see, also regarding the restoration of the former port area.
In the meantime, due to the protests against the Green Pass in Trieste, MSC has preferred to divert its ocean liners to the port of Marghera.
