03.08.2020 – 10.40 – The City Council of Trieste has decided to extend until December, 31st the possibility to access all municipal museums for free, in order to give a strong signal of recovery of cultural activities and to support the tourism sector in the city.
The reopening of the Museums – from June 8th Revoltella and Orto Botanico, from June 25th almost all the other Museums – has been very well-received, attracting many visitors, in compliance with the regulations regarding the containment of Covid-19 contagion.
By way of example, in one month of opening, almost 10,000 visitors came to the Castle of San Giusto, about 2,500 to the Revoltella Museum and over 4,000 to the Risiera di San Sabba.
In compliance with the regulations in force regarding the containment of the contagion from Covid-19, in the last few days the reopening of the loan and consultation service at the museums’ libraries, the reopening of the conference rooms, and the access to the museums for groups with the possibility of guided tours, have also been arranged.
For the loan and consultation service, access to the structure is by appointment only. Users must be equipped with a mask or with a protection covering their nose and mouth, they must disinfect their hands with the gel provided and/or wash their hands often when consulting documents.
The documents lent will be placed in quarantine inside containers for 72 hours in a dedicated closed environment, which must be periodically ventilated.
The use of the Conference Rooms inside the Museums is allowed in compliance with the “Protocol for the progressive resumption of work activities in attendance – Phase 2 Covid-19” and ordinance n.20 of the President of the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia.
In particular, in terms of spacing, a free space must be ensured between fixed working stations and interpersonal spacing of at least one meter in all other cases, except for cohabiting individuals. The user of the room is responsible for the sanitation intervention at the end of each use.
Without prejudice to all the indications provided for in the “Protocol for the progressive resumption of work activities in attendance – Phase 2 Covid-19” in order to prevent the spread of the virus, access by groups to the museum facilities is permitted by reservation. The person in charge of the group must guarantee interpersonal distance of at least one meter between members, except for cohabiting individuals.
In consideration of the organization of the spaces of the individual museum structures, the maximum number of people for each group is 15 for the Revoltella Museum, the Winckelmann Museum of Antiquities, the War for Peace Museum “Diego de Henriquez“, the Risiera di San Sabba-National Monument, the Castle of San Giusto – Armeria and Lapidario Tergestino at Bastione Lalio, the Botanical Garden; 10 people for the Theatre Museum “Carlo Schmidl”, the Sartorio Museum, the Museum of Oriental Art, the Museum of Risorgimento and Sacrario Oberdan, the Documentation Centre of the Foiba of Basovizza, the Natural History Museum; and maximum 5 people for the Swabian Museum, the Joyce Museum, the Petrarchesco-Piccolomineo Museum.
